Toilet repair and installation in Edmond, OK

Running, leaking or clogging again? It is usually a small part, not a new toilet, and we would rather fix it.

Plumber repairing a toilet

What is your toilet doing?

Running or refilling on its own

A soft flapper, a fill valve that will not shut off, or a float set wrong. A running toilet can waste hundreds of gallons a day.

Small part. Repair

Water at the base

Usually the wax ring, so the toilet has to come up and be reset. If it rocks when you sit, the ring is already gone.

Lift and reseal soon

Clogs every few weeks

Rarely the toilet. Something is lodged in the trapway, or the branch or main line beyond it is the real problem.

Look further down

Cracked, or decades old

A cracked tank or bowl, an immovable blockage in the trapway, or an old high-volume unit you are tired of paying to fill.

Time to replace

The food colouring test

Find out in half an hour whether your toilet is leaking silently.

  1. Put a few drops of food colouring in the tank
  2. Do not flush for about thirty minutes
  3. Colour in the bowl means the flapper is passing water you are paying for

Is an old toilet costing you?

A toilet from the 1980s uses three to five gallons per flush. A modern efficient unit uses 1.28. In a busy household that adds up over a year.

All FAQs
How do I tell if my toilet is leaking silently?

Put a few drops of food colouring in the tank and leave it half an hour without flushing. If colour shows up in the bowl, the flapper is passing and the toilet is running water you are paying for.

There is water at the base of my toilet. Is that serious?

It usually means the wax ring has failed, which requires lifting the toilet to replace. Left alone the water goes into the subfloor and you end up replacing a great deal more than a seal. If the toilet rocks, the ring is already compromised.

My toilet blocks every few weeks. Why?

A toilet that blocks repeatedly is rarely the toilet. It is either something lodged in the trapway or a problem in the branch or main line beyond it. Repeated plunging is a sign to look further down the system.

Is it worth replacing an old toilet?

If it is from the 1980s it is using three to five gallons a flush against 1.28 for a modern efficient unit. In a busy household that difference adds up over a year, and a cracked tank or bowl makes the decision for you.

Stop paying for water you never use.
